Welcome to Fontaine Motel
Fontaine Motel, located at 17850 Woodward Ave, Detroit, offers a modest and affordable lodging option for travelers seeking basic accommodations. With a 2.6 rating, it clearly serves a niche clientele, primarily those on a budget or in need of temporary housing solutions. The motel provides essential amenities such as Wi-Fi, free parking, and air conditioning, which meet fundamental traveler needs but steers away from luxury or extras like a pool, restaurant, or fitness center.
Guests often mention Fontaine’s reasonable weekly rates, starting around $200 and recently rising slightly to $250. This makes it an economical choice for longer stays. Its proximity to public transportation, notably the nearby bus stand, enhances its appeal for commuters or visitors wanting to explore Detroit without relying heavily on a car.
The atmosphere is quiet, and the staff, especially front desk personnel like Mike, receives praise for their helpfulness and welcoming attitude. There is an evident ongoing effort toward property improvement—carpets replaced, rooms renovated, and pest issues addressed—that reflects the management’s commitment to evolving the guest experience despite budget constraints. The motel’s transformation signals a positive trajectory, even if it still lacks some modern comforts.
However, some reviews suggest that communication and pricing transparency could improve. Occasional concerns about cleanliness and room suitability for extended stays indicate inconsistency, meaning prospective guests should approach with tempered expectations. Fontaine Motel does not offer pet-friendly options or airport shuttle services, limiting convenience for some travelers.
In summary, Fontaine Motel is a bare-bones, cost-effective choice suited for visitors prioritizing location and basic amenities over luxury. Those who value quiet surroundings, affordability, and friendly, attentive staff will find it adequate, particularly if public transit access is vital. While improvements are underway, it remains a practical stopover in Detroit for travelers who appreciate honesty and straightforward accommodations.

Not bad was there a week ago for 2 weeks not real dirty if cheaper they need to speak clearer and not try to raise price it would not be worth the stay keep looking, and they need to make sure rooms a suitable for the weeks)weeks.
Affordable place and they offer weekly ratings as well. It is $200/week. And have TV, A/C and other basic stuff. You get what you paid for. People who commute with bus this is a good place, because bus stand is closer to the place.
I couldn't ask for a better person. Mike the guy at the front desk is amazing. I do maintenance work and was down on my luck. He gave me the chance to prove my skills to him. We are slowly redoing the rooms. Very quite place. And all the people saying that there is bugs. I've been in most of the rooms and that is false. Wonderful staff
This place has really shaped up. I stayed here for two months last summer and I would have given it 2,maybe 3 stars for what it was. Now, they have remodeled, type out the nasty carpet, got rid of the bed bugs and didn't hear a mouse all night! Good job. Only downfall was prices went up. Was $200 a week, now $250.
